This piece is a small quilt. The figure was appliquied onto the print fabric background. Then I embroidered the black line around the figure. I did it loosely to make it look like a drawn line. I added the batting and back cloth and quilted them all together.
This piece measures 28" high x 22" wide. It will be shown at Galleri Urbane in Marfa, Tx. , starting April 6th. This is just one of 12 pieces in this show.
I can't believe that's part of a quilt... is there any way to see it larger? I'd really like to be able to gawk at the details I love the way the squirrel is chained directly to her heart... wonderful concept My mom had 3 pet squirrels when she was young... she rescued them as babies and they were very tame and followed her everywhere...
Hi, thanks for the comps! The image you see is the whole quilt. I had wrote, "This piece is a small quilt". Which, if you read like I do, you might mistake it for , " This is a piece of a small quilt". Frankly I'm not sure I could do a large quilt. This one gave me such a bad case of Carpal Tunnel. I would hate to have to start machine stitching my quilts, I love the idiosyntric quality of hand work.
Sorry... ADD It's amazing, I haven't done anything with my hands for so long, I don't even know if I could... as for sewing machines... yeesh, I never know how to even thread one! I have these porcelain dolls that I made a long time ago and all but one are still naked... and the only reason that one of them has clothes on is because she was big enough for me to buy her human toddler clothing yes... I know... I'm pathetic

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Discussing page views, activity and popularity, ~ChaoticSkye explores the inner workings of the community on deviantART from her point of view.
Although this does not apply to everyone, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority perceive things from a different point of view from reading this.
